kyle ensing

Kyle Ensing was born on March 6, 1997, in Santa Clarita, California. His early athletic career included playing basketball and football, but he developed an interest in volleyball during high school. Ensing’s performance on his high school volleyball team at Valencia High School earned him recognition as the 2014 All Santa Clarita Valley Player of the Year and the Daily News All-Area Player of the Year. His brother, Eric Ensing, also played volleyball and served as a significant influence in Kyle’s decision to pursue the sport.

Ensing continued his volleyball career at Long Beach State University, where he achieved significant collegiate success. During his time there, the team reached the NCAA Final Four all four years and secured NCAA titles in both 2018 and 2019. He was recognized individually with AVCA First-Team All-American honors in 2018 and 2019, and was part of the 2018 NCAA All-Tournament Team. In 2018, he received the Off the Block Bryan Ivie Award as the nation’s best opposite player and in 2019, he was named the All-Big West First-Team Player of the Year. Following his collegiate career, Ensing transitioned to professional play, joining international clubs such as Berlin Recycling Volleys, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and SNVBA, before moving to Warta Zawiercie in Poland.

Ensing has been a consistent member of the U.S. men’s national team, participating in major tournaments including the Nations League in 2018, 2019, and 2021, and the NORCECA Championship in 2019. A significant career milestone was his selection to the 12-player roster for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where he competed but the team finished 10th. He has also earned medals in international competitions, including bronze at the 2018 FIVB Nations League, silver at the 2019 NORCECA Championship and 2022 FIVB Nations League, and gold at the 2023 Japan FIVB World Cup. His professional club career includes winning the German SuperCup and German Cup in 2019–2020 with Berlin Recycling Volleys, the Israeli Championship in 2020–21 and 2021–22 with Maccabi Tel Aviv, the Israeli Cup in 2021–22, the French Championship in 2023–24 with SNVBA, and the Polish SuperCup in 2024–25 with Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.
