Kyle Thomas, born in Kent, England, in September 2004, began his social media career in 2019 by posting on TikTok, after initially gaining a following on Instagram. He quickly became known for his content featuring rescued animals, including his meerkat, Mylo. His videos often included comedy sketches, dancing, and food reviews. Thomas’s consistent posting, sometimes up to 60 videos per week, contributed to his rapid growth on the platform. By 2023, he was recognized as one of the highest-earning UK content creators on TikTok. He left Wallace High School at age 16 to focus entirely on his burgeoning online career.
Throughout his career, Thomas has engaged in various projects that extended beyond social media. In 2021, he participated in a TikTok pop-up venue in Westfield London, where he offered guidance on becoming an influencer and content creation. He has also appeared in television interviews, including an appearance on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ in 2022, and expressed interest in developing an animal-themed television show. In 2023, he was featured in a Channel 4 documentary about his ownership of exotic animals. His work in media also includes authoring a book, ‘Guardian of the Realm,’ which was illustrated by Amrit Birdi.
A significant turning point in Thomas’s career involved his endeavors in animal welfare and conservation. Following an investigation concerning a capybara featured on his TikTok, he shifted his focus. In late 2024, he co-founded The Mylo Project, an animal sanctuary, with Irish builder Phil Hughes. This initiative, documented in the BBC documentary ‘We Build a Zoo,’ aimed to provide a proper home for rescued animals and underscored Thomas’s commitment to animal advocacy and rehabilitation, moving away from keeping exotic animals at home to establishing a dedicated sanctuary facility.
