Lara Spencer is set to host 'That Thrifting Show' ordered by Hulu and Freeform, in addition to signing a new multi-year deal to continue on Good Morning America.
Lara Spencer has been co-anchor for ABC's “Good Morning America” since March 2011, making it her second time at “GMA.” She also recently finalized a new long-term deal to stay at the program.
Lara Spencer teamed with Tory Johnson to share deals and steals on products from these brands, among others.
Lara Spencer hosts "Flea Market Flip" on both HGTV and the Great American Country channel. She also hosts "Everything but the House" on HGTV and is the author of "I Brake for Yard Sales" and "Flea Market Fabulous."
Lara Spencer, born Lara Christine Von Seelen on June 19, 1969, in Garden City, New York, embarked on her career after graduating from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in broadcast journalism. Prior to her national television roles, Spencer gained experience through the NBC page program and as a multimedia journalist for WDEF-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her early career also included anchoring overnight news updates for WABC-TV, where her coverage of the TWA Flight 800 crash brought her to the attention of national news executives. In 1999, she joined ABC’s “Good Morning America” as a national correspondent, marking the beginning of her significant contributions to network television. She later expanded her presence by hosting the syndicated entertainment newsmagazine “The Insider” from 2004 to 2011 and contributing regularly to CBS’s “The Early Show”.
Spencer returned to “Good Morning America” as co-anchor in March 2011, a role she maintained while also pursuing her passion for interior design and thrifting. This led her to host “Antiques Roadshow” on PBS for two seasons in 2004 and 2005, and its spin-off, “Antiques Roadshow FYI,” in 2005. Her keen interest in home decor and finding vintage treasures translated into television producing, where she created and executive produced shows like “It’s Worth What?” for NBC in 2011. She also became the host of HGTV’s “Flea Market Flip” and “Everything but the House,” and authored two New York Times bestselling books, “I Brake for Yard Sales” (2012) and “Flea Market Fabulous: Designing Gorgeous Rooms with Vintage Treasures” (2014).
In April 2018, Spencer scaled back her appearances on “Good Morning America” to three days a week to dedicate more time to her production company, DuffKat Media, and developing other television projects. Her career milestones include co-hosting the Miss America pageant in 2013 and 2014, and being named grand marshal at Penn State’s homecoming in 2014. Throughout her career, Spencer has maintained her connection to journalism and lifestyle programming, showcasing her versatility as a television personality and producer.
