Angel Lamung, born Lamung Jaseng Tsawm on June 25, 1997, in Mandalay, Myanmar, is an actress, model, and beauty pageant titleholder of ethnic Kachin descent. She pursued her education at Myint Myat Pyinnyar private high school and later studied English through distance education at Yadanabon University. Her public career began in 2014 when she competed in the High School Queen Oramin-F pageant, placing as 1st runner-up. In the same year, she was crowned Miss Intercontinental Myanmar 2014 at the second edition of Miss Golden Land Myanmar. This title led her to represent Myanmar at the Miss Intercontinental 2014 pageant in Magdeburg, Germany, where she was recognized among contestants from 80 nations and placed in the top 16.
Following her success in pageantry, Lamung entered the modeling industry from 2015 to 2017. Her appearances on magazine covers and in various commercial advertisements established her as a sought-after commercial model. In 2017, she expanded her career into acting, making her debut with a leading role in the romantic drama film “Unstoppable.” She continued to take on significant roles, starring in the film “Thaman Kyar (Weretiger)” in 2018 and the Thai-Burmese action film “Sleeping Awake” in the same year. Her career progression further included co-starring in the dance film “Wind Up Dancer,” which premiered in 2019.
In 2019, Lamung took on a leading role in the drama series “Longing with Love,” which aired on Kamayut Media’s Facebook page. This series was later adapted into a film of the same name, premiering in Myanmar cinemas in February 2020. Beyond her entertainment career, Angel Lamung has been actively involved in political causes. Following the 2021 Myanmar coup d’état, she participated in anti-coup movements and protests, using her platform to speak out against the military government. This political activism resulted in a warrant for her arrest in April 2021 under section 505 (a) of the penal code, charging her with inciting public disturbance and supporting the Civil Disobedience Movement.
