Lauren Socha

Lauren Marie Socha was born on June 9, 1990, in Derby, Derbyshire, England. She comes from a diverse background with Polish, English, Irish, and Italian ancestry, and her older brother, Michael Socha, is also an actor. Her journey into acting began early, training at the Central Junior Television Workshop in Nottingham. Her talent was first recognized when she was cast as the lead in the Arctic Monkeys’ music video for “When the Sun Goes Down” in 2006 at the age of 15, marking her initial foray into the public eye.

Socha’s career gained significant momentum with her role in Samantha Morton’s directorial debut, the television film “The Unloved” (2009), where she portrayed a sixteen-year-old in a care home, earning her a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress. This was followed by a minor role in the television mini-series “Five Daughters” (2010). Her breakout role as Kelly Bailey in the E4 comedy-drama “Misfits” (2009-2011) brought her widespread recognition and critical acclaim, culminating in a BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2011. She continued to diversify her acting experiences by appearing in short films like “Missing” (2010), alongside Tim McInnerny, and “The Child” (2011), where she played a version of Marilyn Monroe. Her subsequent work includes roles in “Catastrophe” (2015-2019) and a prominent part in the comedy series “The Other One” (2017-2022).

Despite personal challenges, including a criminal conviction in 2012 for racially aggravated assault, which led to her departure from “Misfits”, Socha has continued to pursue her acting career. She has featured in various television series and films, consistently showcasing her versatile acting abilities. Her filmography includes a range of genres, from comedy to drama, underscoring her adaptability as a performer.
