One of the many rugby professionals available though our agency, Lee Mears is a now retired rugby union star who was a key hooker for the Bath side. After having to retire following a serious heart condition, Mears now talks about his time in the sport and is well placed to talk about dealing with adversity, about self motivation and about winning at the highest level.
Born in Torquay in 1979, Mears was forced to retire when he was diagnosed with a heart abnormality in February 2013,but the intervening years saw him play some fine games. In all he turned out no less than 201 times for Bath between 1998 and 2013 and in those games he amassed 55 points in all. Lee has also stared for Devon and played in all the England age group teams including the full a side between 2005 and 2012. He played 42 games with England in all and scored 5 points, whilst he was also selected to play for the British Lions four times, scoring 5 points. He managed to score on his first XV début in a friendly against Saracens and also played in the 2007 World Cup. Mears was also selected in the starting 15 against Scotland in the 2008 Six Nations, which came after several games trying to break into the side from the bench. As such, Lee Mears is an accomplished player with lots of tales to tell and insight to offer a range of public and private audiences.
