Leon Washington

Leon Washington, a highly accomplished NFL running back and return specialist, has seamlessly transitioned into a successful coaching career, sharing his expertise and competitive drive within the football community. After being named ‘Mr. Florida’ in football and earning the Florida Times-Union Player of the Year honor in 2002, Leon Washington continued his exceptional athletic career at Florida State University. As a Florida State Seminole from 2002 to 2005, he distinguished himself by leading the team in return yardage, scoring a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown against Clemson, and earning Second-team All-ACC recognition in 2004.

Parallel to his coaching career, Washington established the Leon Washington Foundation in 2013, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting low-income families in Jacksonville through comprehensive educational, sports, and life skills programs, including an annual free football camp for youth. Demonstrating his continued commitment to the game, Washington returned to the New York Jets as a Special Teams Assistant coach from 2021 to 2023. Looking ahead, he has been appointed as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach for the Central State Marauders, a pivotal role he is set to assume beginning in 2025.
