Liz Watson

Liz Watson is an Australian netball international and Diamonds captain, recognized for her leadership and skill as a midcourter. After winning the Australian National Netball Championships with the Victoria under-19 team in 2012, Liz Watson went on to establish herself as a formidable talent in Australian netball. In 2013, Watson played for City West Falcons in the Victorian Netball League, where she helped secure the VNL title and earned the Player of the Grand Final award. That same year, she captained Victorian Flames in the Australian Netball League, receiving the Flames MVP honor.

She first captained the Australian team during the 2021 Constellation Cup, officially being confirmed as Australia’s captain in September 2021. Under her distinguished leadership, Liz Watson guided the Australian Diamonds to gold medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2023 Netball World Cup, cementing her legacy as one of the sport’s most successful leaders. Throughout her decorated career, Watson has accumulated an impressive 91 test caps for her country. In 2024, Liz Watson embarked on a new chapter in her club career, transitioning to the Sunshine Coast Lightning after signing a three-year deal.
