Lucie Brunet – known better by her stage name Luce – is a French singer-songwriter and actress who rose to fame on French talent show Nouvelle Star. Luce’s distinctive vocal style, eccentric sense of fashion and unconventional approach made her a surprise winner of the 8th series of the music competition in 2010. After winning the show Luce signed a major recording deal with Sony.
Hailing from Perpignan , France, Luce started her career as a trainee nurse in Montpellier but also practised the flute at the Conservatory of Dramatic Art. After entering the Nouvelle Star competition as a bet, she was declared the winner of the eighth and final season of the show despite having never sang in public before the competition. After signing a major-label deal with Sony after winning the show she dropped her debut album Premier Phalange in 2011 along with lead single ‘Ete Noir’ featuring French rapper Orelsan. Her 2015 follow up album Chaud was written by Mathieu Boogaerts and she toured France with Boogaerts the same year.
Luce has also ventured in television and acting, appearing in the France 2 TV Series Hôtel de la plage, Vive le colo! and the French comedy film Nuts. She made her stage debut in the play Cabaret Deret in 2015 and has appeared in 7 other stage productions since. She appeared on stage in The Theatre and its Double in 2020 and is working on her highly anticipated third album.
