Luis Boa Morte was one of the most instantly recognisable faces during the Premier League era forFulham. His quick feet and hard-working ability made him a firm favourite at Craven Cottage.
The winger was born in Portugal and was part of the Sporting Lisbon academy, before moving to Arsenal in 1997. He spent two years at the Gunners before moving to Southampton in 1999. During his time at St Mary’s he made 14 appearances and scored one goal.He spent one season on loan with Fulham, where he made an immediate impression. The club were that impressed with the Portuguese player that they signed him in the summer of 2001.
He would go on to play 166 times for the club and score 26 goals. The most memorable one of these came during a 1-0 victory over Chelsea in his final season with the club, which secured a famous West London derby victory.He signed for West Ham United in 2007, where he would continue to play at the highest level for another four seasons. At the Hammers he made 91 appearances and scored two goals.
However, his contract expired in the summer of 2011 and he decided to move to Greek side Larissa, before moving to South Africa with the Orlando Pirates. He returned to English football in 2012 for one final season playing with Chesterfield. He retired in 2013 and quickly went into management, with a roleat Sintrense, before moving onto the assistant manager’s role at Everton alongside Marco Silva.
