Madeline Brewer

Madeline Kathryn Brewer was born on May 1, 1992, in Pitman, New Jersey. She trained at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, graduating in 2012. Her professional acting career began shortly after, making her television debut in 2013 with a recurring role as Tricia Miller in the Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black.” This initial role was a significant turning point, as she had no prior professional acting experience before this series. Following “Orange Is the New Black,” she continued with another recurring role as Miranda Cates in the Netflix series “Hemlock Grove” from 2014 to 2015. These early roles established her presence in the streaming television landscape.

Brewer’s career progressed with diverse roles across various genres. In 2016, she appeared in the “Men Against Fire” episode of the anthology series “Black Mirror.” The year 2017 marked her feature film debut in “Hedgehog” and “Flesh and Blood.” That same year, she began her starring role as Janine Lindo in the Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which has been a major milestone in her career. For her performance in the fourth season of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards in 2021.

Her filmography also includes leading roles in psychological horror films such as “Braid” and “Cam” (both 2018), and supporting roles in features like “Captive State” and “Hustlers” (both 2019). In 2021, she starred in the Hulu romantic comedy “The Ultimate Playlist of Noise” and appeared in “Separation.” More recently, she joined the cast of the Netflix series “You” for its fifth and final season in 2025, playing the character Bronte. Brewer has also engaged in stage work, making her West End debut in “Cabaret” in London from 2022 to 2023, and her New York stage debut in the Off-Broadway production of “Little Shop of Horrors” in August 2025.
