United States Malik Reed is an American professional linebacker who has played for multiple NFL teams, including the Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Miami Dolphins.
Malik Reed, along with DeMarcus Walker and other teammates, participated in efforts to keep the spotlight on racial justice, representing the 'Black Lives Matter' movement.
Malik Reed was born on August 5, 1996, in Dothan, Alabama. He played college football at the University of Nevada, Reno, from 2015 to 2018. During his college career, he accumulated 203 tackles and 22 sacks. After going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, Reed signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent. He quickly established himself as a valuable player.
Reed’s professional career began with the Denver Broncos in 2019. In his second year, during Week 6 of the 2020 season, he recorded two sacks against Cam Newton of the New England Patriots. The following week, he achieved another two sacks against Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. Over his three seasons with the Broncos (2019-2021), he played in 45 games, starting 34, and recorded 15 sacks with 123 combined tackles.
In 2022, Reed was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played 14 games. He then signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins in March 2023. After being released by the Dolphins in August 2023, he joined the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad in September 2023, later being promoted to the active roster. He was waived by the Raiders in December 2023 and subsequently signed to the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad in January 2024. Throughout his career, Reed has demonstrated consistent performance as a linebacker, contributing significantly to his teams’ defensive efforts with a total of 16 sacks and 151 combined tackles across 63 games.
