Wendell Bullen has a great many talents: he is an artist, a dancer, a choreographer, a model, an actor, and much more. He has appeared in music videos alongside such legendary names as Janet Jackson and multi-platinum Puerto Rican artist Farruko. He has appeared on the likes of Jimmy Killen, Jimmy Fallon, and Impractical Jokers and has even performed for British royalty, dancing for Prince William and his wife Kate during their visit to a New York dance company. He is professionally trained in everything from ballet to dancehall and has also released several singles under the name King Kayak.
Bullen was born in Grenada in the West Indies and moved to New York City in 2009, aged just 14, hoping to make the grade as a dancer. He won a scholarship to the Broadway Dance Centre and also studied at The Door, Steps on Broadway, and an intensive ballet training program run by renowned choreographer Obediah Wright. His first professional dance audition was for none other than Missy Elliott, but nerves got the better of him. The experience fired him up, however, and before long he was appearing in music videos and on major television networks.
In recent years, Bullen has also become a noted choreographer and teacher in his own right, giving lessons across New York. He has also begun taking his musical ambitions more seriously, releasing music as King Kayak and getting tens of thousands of streams for tracks such as ‘Bumpa’ and ‘Take My Time With You’.
