Mariah Paris Balenciaga is every bit the queen her name inspires. A resounding voice of love, equality and support, Mariah is a pillar in the LGBTQ community and beyond. Best known for her appearances on RuPaul’s Drag Race, the drag queen and TV personality uses her voice and influence for good, especially in combating the systemic racism and prejudice unfortunately still so prevalent in our world.
Elijah Kelly grew up in Georgia before moving to Atlanta at the age of 19. It was there that he was introduced to and started working in drag in the ballroom scene. His early work led to Elijah being a founding member of the House of Balenciaga, a young african american and latin american underground LGBTQ subculture. Mariah’s talent was finally shown to the world in 2011 when she made it through to the third season of RuPauls Drag Race. From that moment there was no stopping the superstar. From 2011 to 2012 she appeared as a drag professor on the second and third seasons of RuPaul’s Drag U, a spin-off of Drag Race. 2013 marked the release of her first single Mug 4 Dayz. In 2015 Mariah performed as a background dancer for Miley Cyrus at the VMA’s, and in 2018 for Rita Ora on Lip Sync Battle. The talented dancer has also featured in Lizzo’s Juice music video.
Since 2016 Mariah has made appearances on several WOWPresents internet series. On Fashion Photo Ruview she and others review the latest drag alumni fashion do’s and don’ts. She also regularly co-hosts Wait, What? with Kimora Blac. In 2020 Mariah was asked back to RuPaul for the All Stars edition. Later that year she issued a PSA alongside fellow black RuPaul alum’s entitled Stop The Racism, fighting for justice with love and art.
