Marie Dorin Habert achieved great success during her career as a world-beating biathlete. In just over a decade, between 2007 and 2018, she won four Olympic medals (including one gold), an amazing 17 World Championship medals (including five gold), and a total of 53 podium finishes in the Biathlon World Cup, finishing second overall in 2016. She also won various medals at the Youth and Junior World Championships. Since retiring, she has remained a popular presence on the world biathlon scene and has close to 50,000 followers on Instagram.
Dorin Habert was born in June 1986 in Lyon, France. She first came to international attention at the 2004 Youth World Championships when she was part of the gold-medal-winning 3x6km relay team. The following year, she helped France to successfully defend their gold medal in the event. She also won bronze in the 10km individual. In 2006, she graduated to the Junior World Championships, helping the French team to a silver relay medal, and the year after that, she made her World Cup debut. Her World Cup career lasted 11 seasons and saw her finish in the overall top ten five times, including a runner-up position at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Dorin Habert’s Olympic career began in Vancouver in 2010 when she took bronze in the 7.5km sprint and a bronze relay medal. After a tough 2014 Games, she savoured gold in Pyeongchang in 2018 as part of the French mixed relay team. Her greatest personal success, however, is arguably her four individual World Championship medals, won at the 2015 and 2016 tournaments and representing the pinnacle of her brilliant career.
