Nick Buckland

Nick Buckland, an accomplished figure skater, has represented Great Britain in three Winter Olympic Games, achieving a European bronze medal and multiple national titles. After representing Great Britain in three Winter Olympic Games and earning a European bronze medal and multiple national titles, Nick Buckland established himself as a prominent figure in ice dance. He formed a highly successful ice dance partnership with Penny Coomes in 2005. The duo made their senior international debut at the 2008 Finlandia Trophy, securing a ninth-place finish.

Following this, he and Coomes achieved a bronze medal at the 2014 European Championships in Budapest. The same year, they earned their first Grand Prix medal, a bronze, at the 2014 Rostelecom Cup. Buckland went on to compete in his second Winter Olympics at Sochi 2014, where the pair placed 10th in ice dancing and also secured a 10th-place finish in the mixed team event. They continued their national dominance, clinching British National Champion titles in 2013 and 2014, and further adding a silver medal at the 2015 Ondrej Nepela Trophy.

Following their successful competitive skating careers, Buckland transitioned into new roles within the sport. In 2018, he and Coomes leveraged their expertise by serving as stunt doubles and consultants for the acclaimed television drama “Torvill & Dean,” which chronicled the iconic British ice dancing duo. This role allowed them to provide authentic contributions to a project celebrating the sport’s heritage. Buckland remains actively engaged in the figure skating community, contributing his knowledge and experience through ongoing coaching and choreography, continuing to inspire the next generation of athletes.
