Mark Daigneault is a prominent American professional basketball coach, currently serving as the head coach for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA. His coaching journey began at the University of Connecticut, where he was a student manager for the UConn Huskies from 2003 to 2007. After earning his degree in education, he transitioned into coaching, taking an assistant position at Holy Cross, where he helped the team reach the Patriot League Championship finals in the 2008-09 season.
Following his time at Holy Cross, Daigneault further honed his coaching skills at the University of Florida under head coach Billy Donovan. During his tenure, the Gators achieved remarkable success, including three SEC titles and an Elite Eight appearance each year, with a stellar record of 120-30. His contributions extended beyond the college level, as he assisted Donovan with USA Basketball, showcasing his ability to connect with players and develop talent.
In 2014, Daigneault was appointed head coach of the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder’s G-League affiliate. His success with the Blue paved the way for his promotion to head coach of the Thunder in November 2020, where he quickly established himself as a leader during the team’s rebuilding phase.
Under Daigneault’s guidance, the Thunder have shown significant improvement, culminating in a 40-42 record in the 2022-23 season and a play-in tournament appearance.
