Marques Townes

Marques Townes was born on September 3, 1995, in Edison, New Jersey. He began his collegiate basketball career at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2014, playing in 57 games over two seasons. During his sophomore year (2015-16), he started all 33 games, averaging 11.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, and contributed to Fairleigh Dickinson’s appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He recorded 1,535 minutes played and totaled 597 points, 210 rebounds, and 118 assists during his time at Fairleigh Dickinson. Earlier, in high school, Townes achieved success at Cardinal McCarrick High School and St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, New Jersey, where he played alongside future NBA players Karl-Anthony Towns and Wade Baldwin IV. His senior year saw his team achieve a 30-2 record, winning the New Jersey Tournament of Champions, and he finished his high school career with 1,863 points.

In 2016, Townes transferred to Loyola University Chicago. After sitting out the 2016-17 season due to NCAA transfer rules, he became a key player for the Loyola Ramblers. In the 2017-18 season, he started all 38 contests, averaging 11.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He was instrumental in the Ramblers’ Cinderella run to the NCAA Final Four, a significant milestone for the program. His performance in the Sweet 16 against Nevada, where he hit a game-clinching three-pointer, garnered national attention. His collegiate career concluded impressively in the 2018-19 season, where he earned Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year honors, averaging 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, leading Loyola to a share of its second consecutive MVC regular season title.

Following his successful college career, Townes embarked on a professional journey in international basketball. In 2019, he signed with UCAM Murcia in Spain’s Liga ACB, where he played for two seasons. He later moved to BC Kalev/Cramo in Estonia and Pieno žvaigždės Pasvalys in Lithuania in 2021. His career has also included stints with Tours Métropole Basket in France (2022), Kecskeméti TE in Hungary (2022-2023), Crailsheim Merlins in Germany (2023), BK Opava in the Czech Republic (2023-2024), and PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece (2024). In 2025, he signed with KB Peja in Kosovo. Additionally, Townes represented the Dominican Republic national basketball team at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2018, showcasing his international athletic versatility.
