Martin Allen is currently an English football manager and was formerly a professional football player.During his career, he had spells at Premier League clubs Queens Park Rangers and West Ham as well as football league teams Portsmouth and Southend United.
Born in 1965, Martin started his professional football career at Queens Park Rangers in 1983 at the age of just 18. After making an impression at Loftus Road, he was then signed by London team West Ham United for £670,000.
He was part of the West Ham United team that won promotion to the Premier League in the year of 1993. During his football career, Martin was known for his frequent bookings and the occasional sending off. He would go on to remain with West Ham until 1995 before brief spells at both Portsmouth and Southend before retiring.Now we move on to the managerial career of Martin. It all began back where his home was, Reading. This wasn’t a full manager role but in assistance to Allen Pardew who was fighting relegation at that time.
His first full manager role would come at Barnet in the English football conference. He enjoyed a successful tenure at Barnet having got them to the play-offs. After Barnet, he would then have managerial spells at Brentford and Milton Keynes before joining Championship side Leicester City. After Leicester, he would continue to have another three spells as manager atBarnet as well as managing Eastleigh, Chesterfield and Gillingham.
