Mason Blake Ramsey was born on November 16, 2006, in Golconda, Illinois. His public career began in March 2018 at the age of 11, when a video of him yodeling Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues” in a Walmart store in Harrisburg, Illinois, went viral, accumulating over 25 million views within days. This unexpected internet fame led to widespread media attention and a sudden entry into the music industry. The viral video also sparked renewed interest in Hank Williams’ original recording, with “Lovesick Blues” charting on Spotify’s Viral 50 in the U.S. and globally.
Following his viral success, Ramsey appeared on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, where he expressed a desire to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, a wish that was promptly granted. In April 2018, he made an appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival with DJ Whethan. Later that month, he secured a record deal with Atlantic Records and Nashville-based Big Loud Records. His debut single, “Famous,” released in 2018, entered the US Billboard Hot 100 at number 62 and reached number 4 on the US Hot Country Songs chart. His debut EP, also titled ‘Famous’, reached number 7 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart. Ramsey continued to gain recognition, performing iconic number 1 songs from the Billboard Hot 100 on its 60th anniversary. He was featured on Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” remix and performed with him at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. In 2019, he released his second EP, ‘Twang’, which included the song “Before I Knew It” that later gained popularity on TikTok in 2022.
After a period of reduced public activity, Ramsey returned to the spotlight with a Burger King commercial in 2020, yodeling about methane emissions. He released new music in 2023, including the singles “Reasons to Come Home,” “She Got It Outta Me,” and “Next Right Thing,” all featured on his ‘Falls Into Place’ EP released in October 2023. In 2024, he continued releasing singles such as “Here All Day,” “Blue Over You,” and “Something You Can Hold.” On June 20, 2024, he performed with Lana Del Rey at Fenway Park, singing a duet of “Blue Over You.” He released his debut studio album, ‘I’ll See You In My Dreams’, on September 20, 2024, which also featured the single and music video for the title track. Ramsey has also expanded into voice acting, portraying Oliver in ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ in 2019.
