Mason Rudolph is an Football quarterback who plays for the National Football League’s Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a three-year starter for Oklahoma State in NCAA Football, where he received the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in his last year. The Steelers took him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Rudolph was the Steelers’ third-string quarterback in 2018 and did not play in any games during the regular season. After Ben Roethlisberger was injured early in the season, he saw play as a starter in 2019. Throughout the season, he’d take turns starting with Duck Hodges.
In week 9 of the 2020 season, Rudolph entered the game against the Dallas Cowboys in the second quarter when Roethlisberger left to the locker room with an ankle injury. Before Roethlisberger returned in the second half, Rudolph completed two of three throws for three yards. In a blowout victories against the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, and Jacksonville Jaguars, Rudolph appeared in relief of Roethlisberger in the fourth quarter.
With the Steelers already having clinched the AFC North, head coach Mike Tomlin revealed on December 29, 2020 that Rudolph would start the season finale against the Cleveland Browns in order to rest Roethlisberger. In the 24–22 road defeat, Rudolph passed for 315 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. On April 29, 2021, Rudolph signed a one-year contract extension with the Steelers. When Ben Roethlisberger was declared out with COVID-19 in Week 10, Rudolph made his first start of the season against the Detroit Lions. In the 16–16 tie, Rudolph passed for 242 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
