Matthew Croke

Matthew Croke, born and raised in Sheffield, developed an early passion for musical theatre, crediting his sister, Rachel Croke, as a significant influence. He pursued formal training at the Maureen Law Theatre School, the Sharon Berry School of Dance, and later at Laine Theatre Arts College. This comprehensive education prepared him for a career in performing arts where he has become a versatile talent, showcasing abilities in singing, dancing, and acting across various productions. Beyond his stage work, Matthew Croke is also involved in nurturing new talent; he co-directs the RMC Academy of Theatre Performance in his hometown of Sheffield with his sister.

Croke gained significant recognition for taking on the title role in the West End production of Disney’s Aladdin. His career on stage includes understudying and performing in several major roles across acclaimed musicals. These roles include Fiyero in “Wicked,” Eddie in “Funny Girl,” Eugene in “Grease,” Don Lockwood in “Singin’ in the Rain,” Hook in “Peter Pan,” Prince Charming in “Cinderella,” Larry in “A Chorus Line,” and Zeke in “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.” These diverse roles demonstrate his range and commitment as a performer in the competitive West End theatre scene.

In addition to his theatrical performances, Croke has expanded his artistic endeavors to include television appearances and voice work, notably for productions like “Elvis Mania” and “Madonna Mania.” In late 2014, he released his debut solo album, “Only Dreaming.” This album featured collaborations with his co-stars, including Hiba Elchikhe, Trevor Dion Nicholas, and Nick Afoa, and included songs from musicals such as “Aladdin,” “Big Fish,” “West Side Story,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Moulin Rouge!,” and “The Wiz.” His ongoing presence in West End productions and his engagement on social media maintain his connection with his audience.
