Matthew Selt is a professional snooker player with a ranking title and numerous quarter-final appearances in major tournaments. After winning his first ranking title, the Indian Open in 2019 by defeating Lyu Haotian in the final following a semi-final victory against John Higgins, Matthew Selt solidified his position as a prominent professional snooker player. Selt embarked on his professional snooker career in 2002, qualifying for the professional tour by finishing seventh in the Pontin’s International Open Series in the 2006/2007 season. Early in his career, he cleared his name in 2008 following WPBSA allegations regarding a match in the 2007 International Open Series.
Continuing his presence at the sport’s pinnacle, Selt reached the Crucible for the fifth time in 2025, further cementing his World Championship pedigree. In February 2025, Selt received a three-month suspended ban and a £10,000 fine from the WPBSA for his conduct at the 2024 Saudi Arabia Masters, for which he issued a full apology. This event, alongside his continued competitive appearances, underscores his active and recognized role within the professional snooker circuit.
