Evan Washburn

Evan Washburn was born on September 25, 1984, in Annapolis, Maryland. He pursued his higher education at the University of Delaware, graduating in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. During his time at Delaware, Washburn was a prominent figure in college lacrosse, playing for four years. He notably led the Delaware team to the NCAA Tournament Final Four in 2007. His athletic career culminated in 2008 when, as team captain, he earned selection to the All-CAA Conference First Team.

Washburn transitioned his passion for sports into a broadcasting career, joining CBS Sports in June 2014 as a reporter for THE NFL ON CBS. Since then, he has become a key part of their NFL coverage, including serving as a sideline reporter for major events such as Super Bowl 50 in 2016 and Super Bowl LIII in 2019. In addition to his NFL responsibilities, Washburn covers NCAA basketball as a reporter, specifically for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. His expertise extends to college lacrosse, where he works as an analyst for CBS Sports Network, drawing on his collegiate playing experience. He also serves as a studio host for CBS Sports, further showcasing his versatility in sports broadcasting.

Beyond his national roles, Washburn contributes to local sports, serving as the sideline reporter for the Baltimore Ravens pre-season games’ television broadcasts. He resides in Baltimore with his wife, Kate Washburn, whom he married in 2014, and their son, Hudson, born in 2016. Washburn consistently lends his time as an alumni mentor to students and young alumni from Severn School interested in careers within the sports industry, emphasizing his commitment to developing future talent.
