Max Lugavere was born on May 28, 1982, in New York City. His career began in broadcasting, working as a presenter on Current TV from 2005 to 2011. During his time there, he co-hosted “Max and Jason: Still Up” with Jason Silva, covering a variety of current events. In 2013, he created “Acting Disruptive,” Tribeca Enterprises’ first original series, which debuted on AOL and focused on storytelling and disrupting established norms.
Lugavere’s focus shifted to health and wellness, particularly brain health, after his mother was diagnosed with dementia. This personal experience propelled him into extensive research and advocacy in the field. In May 2018, he co-authored “Genius Foods: Become Smarter, Happier, and More Productive While Protecting Your Brain for Life,” a New York Times bestseller that explores the connection between diet and brain function. He advocates for a low-carbohydrate diet emphasizing animal-source foods, specific fats, and fibrous vegetables. He has also developed a popular podcast, “The Genius Life,” where he discusses neurodegenerative disease prevention and overall health.
His published works include a trilogy of books centered on brain health and optimized living. In April 2024, Lugavere co-directed “Little Empty Boxes,” a documentary that examines his mother’s experience with dementia and delves into dietary concepts. He is an advocate for specific dietary choices, frequently appearing on television programs like Dr. Oz, and continuing to engage with audiences through his podcast and book tours.
