American freestyle skier Megan Nick specialises in aerials. She participated in the Beijing Winter Olympics in February of 2022 and took home the bronze medal in aerials. Nick passed the qualification process, and finished fifth in Final 1, from which only six competitors advanced. Although she was the only athlete in Final 2 who did not do a triple backflip, her routine was simpler than the others’ and she did not make any mistakes, in contrast to many of her rivals. She was dubbed a “surprising medalist” by NBC Sports.
Nick went to Champlain Valley Union High School for her high school education. After visiting the U.S. team’s aerial skiing Talent ID camp in Lake Placid during her senior year of high school, she switched from participating in gymnastics to aerials. She graduated from Champlain Valley in 2014.
A celebration of Nick’s Olympic achievment took place in her hometown in the US state of Vermont in March 2022. The event began with an escort of first responders leading a procession. Nick was the second medal winner from Vermont to get parade honours after the Beijing Winter Olympics. Ryan Cochran-Siegle, a local hero, was feted in Richmond on February 19 after taking home silver in the men’s super-G Alpine competition on February 8. With her third-place finish behind skiers from China and Belarus, Nick became the first person from Vermont to win an aerial skiing medal.
