Melanie Neige Scrofano, born on December 20, 1981, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, began her career in entertainment as a model at the age of 13. Her transition into acting occurred after her agent started submitting her for acting opportunities. She is trilingual, fluent in English, French, and Italian, which has contributed to her versatility in various roles. Scrofano’s early acting work included television appearances in series such as “Undressed” (2002), “Mob Stories” (2003), and “Naked Josh” (2004). She also secured early film roles in productions like “Baby Blues” (2008), “A Good Meal” (2009), and “Saw VI” (2009), portraying Gena.
Scrofano gained significant recognition for her lead role as Wynonna Earp in the Syfy modern Western drama “Wynonna Earp,” which ran from 2016 to 2021. During the filming of the second season of “Wynonna Earp” in 2017, Scrofano was pregnant, giving birth to her son shortly after production wrapped. In addition to her acting work on “Wynonna Earp,” she also directed an episode titled “Look at Them Beans.” Her other notable television roles include Mrs. McMurray in the Crave comedy series “Letterkenny” (2016–2023), Rebecca on the CBC series “Being Erica,” October on Showcase’s “Pure Pwnage,” and Tia on CTV’s “The Listener.” In film, she played Emilie in the 2019 comedy-horror film “Ready or Not.”
More recently, Scrofano has taken on the recurring role of Captain Marie Batel in “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” (2022–2025). Her directorial work has expanded to include episodes of “Heartland” (2022–2024), “Clickbait: Unfollowed” (2024), “SurrealEstate” (2021–2023), and “The Hardy Boys” (2022). She is also an executive producer for the upcoming TV series “Revival” (2025), where she will star as Dana Cypress, and served as a co-producer for “Wynonna Earp: Vengeance” (2024). Her career demonstrates sustained involvement in both acting and directing across a range of genres.
