One of America’s most beloved volleyball players, Melissa Fuchs Powell is an athlete known for her incredible beach volleyball skills. She has appeared in events on the AVP Pro Beach Tour and the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
Born in Utah in 1995, both of Powell’s parents played beach volleyball professionally in Brazil. She was a four-year starter at Pleasant Grove High School and was named a PrepVolleyball.com All-American. After winning the 5A Utah State Championship, Powell played one season at Central Michigan University before transferring to Houston Baptist University to play indoor volleyball for three years. She then spent one year on the Univesity of Utah’s beach volleyball team.
As a professional volleyballer, Powell has played matches alongside partners like Allison Spurrier, Jessica Wooten, and Delaney Knudsen. She made her debut on the AVP Pro Beach Tour in 2018 and finished fifth at NORCECA in Martinique the same year. Powell continued to participate in several AVP events in 2019 and also finished as high as fifth in FIVA events across the world. In 2020, she returned to the FIVA World Tour and finished fifth in Tel Aviv, Israel. One of the world’s most well-known beach volleyball players, Melissa Fuchs Powell is undoubtedly one of her generation’s most iconic athletes.
