Melissa George was born in Perth, Western Australia, in 1976. As a child, she pursued various forms of dance, including tap, ballet, and jazz. By age 16, George had achieved national recognition in artistic rollerskating, winning multiple awards at Australian championships. Her entry into entertainment began with modeling, which led to her being discovered by a casting agent. In 1993, she secured a role on the Australian soap opera ‘Home and Away,’ portraying Angel Parrish. She worked on the series for three years, a period during which her character Angel Parrish gained significant popularity. During her time on ‘Home and Away,’ George also ventured into property investments and wrote advice columns for English teen magazines, demonstrating an early entrepreneurial spirit.
After her tenure on ‘Home and Away’ concluded in 1996, George relocated to Los Angeles in 1997 to expand her acting career into Hollywood. Her film debut came in 1998 with a supporting part in ‘Dark City.’ She continued to build her filmography with roles in projects such as Steven Soderbergh’s ‘The Limey’ (1999) and David Lynch’s ‘Mulholland Drive’ (2001).
