Michael Auger was born on March 6, 1990, in Petersfield, England. Prior to his rise to public recognition, Auger pursued a robust academic path, attending Churcher’s College in Hampshire and later Alton College where he focused on A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography. He continued his higher education at the University of Bath, studying Accounting and Finance, and further honed his performing skills at the London School of Musical Theatre. Before Collabro, Auger gained diverse professional experience, working at a petrol station owned by his father and as an intern at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Auger’s career trajectory significantly shifted in January 2014 when he joined Jamie Lambert, Matthew Pagan, Thomas J. Redgrave, and Richard Hadfield to form the musical theatre group Collabro. Just one month after their formation, the group auditioned for the eighth series of Britain’s Got Talent. Their rendition of “Stars” from “Les Misérables” earned them a standing ovation and unanimous positive feedback from the judges, including Simon Cowell. Collabro advanced through the competition, performing “Bring Him Home” in the semi-finals, securing the highest public vote. On June 7, 2014, Collabro won Britain’s Got Talent with their re-arranged performance of “Stars,” capturing 26.5% of the public vote.

Following their victory, Collabro signed a record deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco Music, releasing their debut album, “Stars,” on August 15, 2014, which immediately topped the UK Albums Chart. The group cultivated a dedicated fan base known as “Collaborators.” In 2015, Collabro signed a notable £1 million record deal with Sony Masterworks in the US. Throughout his tenure with Collabro, Auger contributed to several successful albums, including “Act Two” (2015), “Home” (2017), “Road to the Royal Albert Hall” (2018), “Love Like This” (2019), “Christmas Is Here” (2020), and “Be Still My Soul” (2022). He also expanded into individual endeavors, appearing as a member of ‘the 100’ on the BBC talent show “All Together Now” alongside Geri Halliwell, and engaging in pantomime performances. After announcing their disbandment in 2022, Collabro reunited for an 11-year anniversary concert in 2025 and announced “The Harmonies Tour” for 2026, marking Auger’s continued involvement in the group’s journey.
