Born on November 7, 1964, in Birmingham, Alabama, Michael Papajohn graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 1983. He was initially drafted by the Texas Rangers in 1985 but chose to attend Louisiana State University (LSU) on a baseball scholarship. As a starting center-fielder for the LSU Tigers, he played in their first College World Series appearances in 1986 and 1987. His entry into the entertainment industry began during his time at LSU when he was cast as Dennis Quaid’s stunt double for football scenes in the 1988 film “Everybody’s All-American.” This experience garnered the attention of Director Taylor Hackford, who encouraged Papajohn to pursue a career in stunt work.
Papajohn built a career spanning over three decades, specializing in both acting and stunt performance. He is widely recognized for his role as ‘The Carjacker’ in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” (2002), a character pivotal to Peter Parker’s origin story. He reprised this role in “Spider-Man 3” (2007) and made a cameo in “The Amazing Spider-Man” (2012). His collaboration with Adam Sandler began when Papajohn performed stunts for Sandler in “The Waterboy” (1998), leading to an acting role as Guard Papajohn in “The Longest Yard” (2005).
His extensive filmography includes appearances in significant productions such as “Jurassic World” (2015) as an InGen Contractor, “Selma” (2014) as Major Cloud, and “American Ultra” (2015) as Otis.
