After winning the NEWA Heavyweight Championship in 2004 and appearing on WWE Heat in 2007, Mike Bennett established himself as a prominent figure in professional wrestling. He made his professional wrestling debut in 2002, competing extensively on the independent circuit for promotions including the East Coast Wrestling Association, New England Wrestling Association, and Eastern Pro Wrestling. Bennett further solidified his presence by wrestling for Northeast Wrestling (NEW) and Squared Circle Wrestling (2CW, where he participated in a five-way match for the NEW Heavyweight Championship in March 2010.
