Mike Losey

As the former CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management, Michael Losey, SPHR, CAE is an author and expert in human resource management.

Having served as an expert in human resource management and association management throughout his career, Losey has held management roles at both the agricultural machinery company New Holland and the technology company Unisys. In 1990 Losey went on to be named the President and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a role he held for ten years during which time tripled its membership to over 150,000 members and increased its net worth 900 per cent. Of his other roles, Losey is also the former president of both the North American Human Resource Management Association (NAHRMA) and the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations (WFPMA). In addition, he also played a leading role in the establishment of the National Academy of Human Resources.

Since stepping down as CEO of the SHRM, Losey has served as a consultant for a variety of organisations on HR and management professions. A renowned author, Losey’s book Touching People’s Lives: Leader’s Sorrow or Joy is well-known across the industry. He has also collaborated on a number of other publications including Tomorrow’s HR Management alongside Dr David Ulrich and Dr Gerry Lake, and The Future of Human Resource Management alongside Ulrich and Susan Meisinger. Now a frequent speaker at events around the world, Losey addresses audiences on key association, leadership and human resource issues.
