Mike Vick

Michael Vick, a former NFL quarterback known for his groundbreaking athleticism, has transitioned from professional athlete to coach, media analyst, and sports group executive. After leading the Virginia Tech Hokies to an undefeated regular season and a national title game appearance in the 1999 Nokia Sugar Bowl, Mike Vick established himself as a dominant force in collegiate football. During his freshman season, he earned the Archie Griffin Award as college football’s most valuable player, was named Big East Offensive Player of the Year, and finished third in Heisman Trophy voting. His exceptional collegiate performance led to his selection as the first overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons, making him the first African-American quarterback to be taken with the top pick.

The 2010 season saw him lead the Eagles to a division title, earning him the prestigious NFL Comeback Player of the Year award from both the Associated Press and Sporting News, alongside his fourth Pro Bowl selection and the Bert Bell Award. He later served as a backup quarterback for the New York Jets in 2014 and the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015 before officially retiring as an Atlanta Falcon in 2017. Since retiring from play, Vick has transitioned into coaching, media analysis, and sports executive roles. He served as an advisor for the Atlanta Legends in 2019 and currently contributes as an NFL analyst for Fox NFL Kickoff on FS1.

In 2024, he was appointed head football coach at Norfolk State University. His lasting impact on the sport has been recognized through his induction into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 and his upcoming induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2025.
