Mohanad Shaban

Mohanad Shaban was born on July 2, 2000, in Cairo, Egypt. He began his modern pentathlon career at a young age, displaying early talent in the demanding multi-sport discipline that combines fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping, and a laser run (combined running and laser pistol shooting). His dedication to training allowed him to advance through the youth and junior ranks, competing in various national and international events. Shaban’s career trajectory has been marked by a steady improvement in his competitive standings, transitioning from promising youth athlete to a notable figure in senior-level pentathlon.

Throughout his career, Shaban has accumulated several key achievements. In 2017, he secured a 4th place finish at the UIPM Tetrathlon U19 World Championships in Prague and contributed to a 1st place finish in the Team-relay Men category at the same event. He continued to build on this success, participating in major competitions such as the UIPM Junior World Championships and various World Cup events. A significant milestone occurred in 2019 when he earned a 1st place in the Team-relay Men at the UIPM Junior World Championships in Drzonkow, Poland. This period showcased his potential and ability to perform under pressure on the global stage.

Shaban’s progression into senior competitions brought further success. He achieved a 2nd place finish at the African Championships in Cairo in 2019. In 2023, he reached a career highlight by winning the UIPM Pentathlon World Cup Final in Ankara, Turkey. That same year, he earned a bronze medal in the individual event and two gold medals in the team and mixed relay events at the UIPM Pentathlon World Championships in Bath, Great Britain. These performances culminated in his qualification for the 2024 Summer Olympics, solidifying his status as a top-tier modern pentathlete.
