Myles David Jack was born on September 3, 1995, in Scottsdale, Arizona. He excelled in both football and track during his high school years at Bellevue High in Bellevue, Washington. Initially playing as a running back, he later added linebacker to his roles, showcasing his versatility. As a senior, he recorded 98 tackles and 24 sacks, contributing to his team’s undefeated 14–0 season. His athletic prowess continued into college at UCLA, where he played for the Bruins from 2013 to 2015. Notably, during his true freshman year in 2013, Jack distinguished himself by being named both the Pac-12 Conference Offensive and Defensive Freshman Player of the Year, a testament to his exceptional two-way play as both a linebacker and a running back. He recorded 75 tackles, two interceptions, and one defensive touchdown, alongside 267 rushing yards and seven touchdowns as a running back.
In 2014, Jack continued to be a key player for UCLA, earning a second-team All-Pac-12 selection as a linebacker. His college career was cut short in 2015 when he sustained a season-ending knee injury during a routine practice, leading him to withdraw from UCLA and declare for the NFL draft. Despite concerns surrounding his knee injury, Jack was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft with the 36th overall pick. He spent six seasons with the Jaguars, becoming a central figure in their defense. A significant personal milestone occurred in 2023 when he, along with his mother LaSonjia Jack, became the first African-American majority owners in ECHL history by acquiring the Allen Americans.
Jack played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022 and had a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, where he initially announced his retirement. However, he soon unretired and rejoined the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad later that year, demonstrating his enduring commitment to the sport. Throughout his NFL career, he has accumulated notable statistics, including 634 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and three interceptions across 106 games. His versatile athleticism and leadership have been recognized with various accolades, including being a nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award in 2021. Beyond football, Jack has shown an entrepreneurial spirit, engaging in ventures such as a candle business, highlighting his diverse interests.
