Kyle Kidd – better known online as Nanny Maw – stole the heart of millions of TikTok fans with hilarious videos capturing the essence of Southern humor. With an incredible 3.3 million followers on the video sharing site, the viral star is now one of the most popular comedians on TikTok after creating his beloved character during challenging times in his life. Never afraid to speak her mind but with a heart of gold, Nanny Maw is based on all of the strong women in Kidd’s life including his grandmother, aunties and perhaps most significantly, his mother.

Hailing from Arkansas, Kidd never set out to become an internet superstar and simply began posting his videos as Nanny Maw as a means to cheer himself and his family up during the Covid-19 pandemic whilst his mother was also bravely battling cancer for the second time. Much to the comedian’s surprise, his relatable character soon caught the attention of TikTok users in America and beyond, and his side-splitting videos began to go viral. Kidd’s success helped him raise a staggering $225,000 for his mom’s cancer battle, which wasn’t covered by her insurance.

Nanny Maw is undoubtedly the character that made Kidd famous, but the former full-time university student has also created many other relatable characters such as ‘Clueless 7th grade teachers’. Since his rise to fame Kidd has already featured on the likes of BuzzFeed and NBC LX news, and his ultimate dream is to appear on his all-time favourite show, Saturday Night Live.
