Aoutneil “Neil” Magny is an American professional mixed martial artist who currently competes in the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). As of February 2023, he was named to the #12 spot in the UFC welterweight rankings.
Born and raised in New York, Magny moved to Illinois at the age of 12 and graduated from Thornwood High School in the Chicago Southland. Magny then attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice and also wrestled and played football. He is also an army veteran who served in Kuwait before leaving the service in 2013. Magny began his professional MMA career in 2010, winning his debut against Nolan Norwood for the C3 Fights promotion. He won his first six fights before losing to Andrew Trace in the final round of the welterweight division tournament of Combat USA’s Wisconsin vs. Illinois championship series. Magny truly made a name for himself after he competed on FX’s The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson, and made his UFC debut against Jon Manley in February 2013, at UFC 157, which he won via unanimous decision. Magny has since consistently risen through the ranks and achieved an impressive record in the UFC, winning 27 bouts and losing 10 as of January 2023.
Outside of MMA, Magny is also a co-host of the podcast “Remember the Show,” which he started with fellow MMA fighter Court McGee. The podcast covers various topics, including MMA, sports, entertainment, and life experiences. Magny is also involved in various charitable causes, including the Wounded Warriors Project, which supports injured veterans, and the Fight for the Forgotten, which raises awareness and funds for the forgotten people in Congo. Magny’s dedication to both his sport and his community makes him a role model for aspiring athletes and a respected figure in the MMA world.
