About

Nicholas Roger Swardson was born on October 9, 1976, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He began his stand-up comedy career at 18, performing at open mic nights at Acme Comedy Co. in Minneapolis. His early talent earned him the “Funniest Person in the Twin Cities” award from the club owner, leading to regular performances and an appearance at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival at age 20. Swardson subsequently moved to New York City and then Los Angeles, where he performed at various nightclubs and started securing minor roles in commercials, television, and film, including a part in the 2000 film *Almost Famous*.

Swardson’s career gained momentum with his first *Comedy Central Presents* special in 2001. In 2003, he co-wrote the screenplay for *Malibu’s Most Wanted* and began his recurring role as Terry Bernadino in the Comedy Central series *Reno 911!*, a character he would portray until 2009 and reprise in *Reno 911!: Miami*. This period also marked the beginning of his notable collaboration with Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions. Their first joint project was the 2006 film *Grandma’s Boy*, which Swardson co-wrote, co-produced, and acted in. He also co-wrote and starred in *The Benchwarmers* (2006).

His creative partnership with Happy Madison Productions continued with various acting, writing, and producing roles across films like *Just Go with It* (2011), *Jack and Jill* (2011), *That’s My Boy* (2012), *Grown Ups 2* (2013), *Pixels* (2015), *The Ridiculous 6* (2015), *The Do-Over* (2016), and *Sandy Wexler* (2017). Swardson also co-created, co-executive produced, co-wrote, and starred in *Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time* (2010-2011) and the web series *Typical Rick* (2016-2017) for Comedy Central. His stand-up specials include *Nick Swardson: Seriously, Who Farted?* (2010), *Nick Swardson: Taste It* (2015), and a segment in Netflix’s *Comedians of the World* (2019). He continues to tour globally and recently appeared in *Leo* (2023) and is slated for *Happy Gilmore 2* (2025).
