Nigel Martyn is a former English professional footballer and current football coach. Born on August 11, 1966, in St Austell, Cornwall, Martyn started playing football in his early childhood. He went on to play as a goalkeeper, and his incredible skills won him many awards and achievements throughout his career.
Martyn’s professional career started in 1987 when he joined Bristol Rovers. He later played for Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Everton, and Retford United. It was during his time at Leeds United that Martyn won the PFA Goalkeeper of the Year award in the year 2001.
After retiring from his professional football career in 2006, Martyn took on the role of a coach and has since been actively involved in mentoring and coaching upcoming football stars. In 2015, he became the goalkeeper coach for the England Women’s Under-19s team. He has also worked with the Fulham and Leeds United Academy.
