Nigel Ng, a Malaysian comedian and YouTuber, is recognized for his comedic alter ego Uncle Roger, offering a unique blend of humor and cultural commentary that resonates with global audiences. After winning the prestigious Amused Moose Laugh-Off in 2016, Nigel Ng quickly rose to prominence in the comedy world. He made his television debut in 2018 on Comedy Central’s ‘Stand Up Central’ and earned a nomination for ‘Best Newcomer Award’ at the esteemed Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. Further establishing his presence, Ng expanded into audio content, co-hosting the popular comedy podcasts ‘Rice to Meet You’ with Evelyn Mok and ‘HAIYAA with Nigel Ng’ alongside his producer Matt.

Ng achieved widespread global recognition with the creation of his comedic alter ego, Uncle Roger, a character known for critiquing Western interpretations of Asian cooking. This character, evolving from TikTok and Instagram sketches, became a YouTube sensation, notably after his viral critique in July 2020 of Hersha Patel’s BBC Food video on preparing egg-fried rice, which led to collaborations with Patel and appearances on BBC Food. In September 2020, Uncle Roger garnered further attention by reviewing Gordon Ramsay’s fried rice, commending Ramsay’s technique. Ng has consistently engaged audiences by critiquing celebrity chefs like Jamie Oliver on their versions of Asian staples including egg fried rice, green curry, ramen, and pho.

It’s Uncle Roger’ restaurant location opened in IPC Shopping Centre in November 2024, with strategic plans for international expansion in the near future.
