Nikola Bartunkova

Nikola Bartunkova was born on February 25, 2006, in Prague, Czech Republic. She embarked on her tennis career at a young age and quickly demonstrated her abilities in the junior circuit. Bartunkova’s career record in singles stands at 126 wins and 59 losses, securing 6 ITF career titles. In doubles, she holds a record of 15 wins and 10 losses. Her early achievements include reaching the semifinals of the French Open Junior singles in 2022 and becoming a finalist in the Wimbledon Junior singles in 2023. She also reached the doubles final at the French Open Junior in 2022.

Bartunkova made her WTA Tour debut at the 2022 Istanbul Cup as a wildcard entry. In October 2023, she achieved her first tour-level match victory at the Transylvania Open, defeating Dayana Yastremska. In November 2024, Bartunkova accepted a six-month suspension following an anti-doping rule violation, although the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) determined that the positive tests were due to a contaminated supplement and she bore “no significant fault or negligence”. She resumed her career in January 2025, quickly achieving a W35 title in Sunderland and reaching her maiden WTA Tour semifinal at the Guadalajara Open Akron, where she defeated defending champion Magdalena Fręch. This performance allowed her to enter the Top 200 for the first time.
