Nina Lussi is a ski jumper from the United States. A Lake Placid, New York native, Lussi has been jumping since she was eight years old. Lussi, her older sister and younger brother used to ski race on weekends, but they wanted something to do during the week, so their parents signed them up for ski jumping. Nina was hooked two years later, after she began bravely taking on the 90-meter jump.
Lussi is a graduate of the Skigymnasium Stams winter sports school in Tirol, Austria. She quickly advanced in her ski jumping as a young teen, and it became impossible for her to continue to excel as an elite athlete while attending standard high school, so she transferred to Stams, where the school’s primary focus is on balancing skiing and academics. She’s now fluent in German, which her colleagues say is an asset they can’t live without these days.
Lassi is a multi-talented athlete who has competed in cross-country running in the Junior Olympics. In the summer, she also goes kitesurfing. She is the tallest woman ski jumper on the World Cup circuit, standing at 5 feet 10 inches. Nina is an ambitious writer and a superb photographer. In March 2014, she won her first Continental Cup in Falun, Sweden, demonstrating how far she has come in her career. In 2016, she finished in second place in the US Normal Hill Nationals Championship. Nina hopes to compete in the World Championships and the Olympics in the future. She keeps up with her fans on Instagram @ninalussi.
