Noah Anderson

Born on February 17, 2001, in Melbourne, Australia, Noah Anderson is the son of two-time AFL premiership player Dean Anderson. He began his football journey early, participating in the Auskick program in Hawthorn, Victoria, and playing junior football for the Hawthorn Citizens Junior Football Club. Anderson’s talent was recognized at a young age when he was selected for the under-12 Victorian state team. His junior career progressed, leading to his debut in the TAC Cup for the Oakleigh Chargers at 16. In 2019, he was named in the under-18 All-Australian team and played a crucial role in Oakleigh’s NAB League premiership season. He also attended Carey Baptist Grammar School alongside future Gold Coast teammate Matthew Rowell.

Anderson was drafted by the Gold Coast Suns with the second pick in the 2019 AFL draft, joining his best friend Matt Rowell, who was selected first overall. He made his AFL debut in Round 1 of the 2020 season against Port Adelaide, playing all 17 games in a season shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Anderson finished as runner-up for the AFL Rising Star Award in 2020. His strong performance continued into 2021, averaging 22 disposals before a hand injury sidelined him for two matches. He returned to play a total of 20 games that season and was subsequently named in the 40-man squad for the AFL’s 22 Under 22 team.

In 2022, Anderson was elevated into the Gold Coast’s leadership group, demonstrating his growing influence within the team. He played 21 games, averaging 26 disposals and 6 clearances, and was again named in the final 2022 AFL 22 Under 22 team. A significant moment in his career occurred in Round 17 of 2022 when he kicked a goal after the siren to secure a comeback victory against Richmond. His consistent high-level performance was further acknowledged in 2023 when he signed a four-year contract extension with the Suns, lasting through the end of the 2027 season. He capped off a standout year by winning the Gold Coast Club Champion award and was recognized for the second consecutive year in the AFLPA 22 Under 22 team. Demonstrating his leadership qualities, Anderson was appointed captain of the Gold Coast Suns prior to the 2025 season, leading them to their inaugural finals series. He also received the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year and All-Australian team honors in 2025, along with the AFL Goal of the Year award.
