Astrid Fanny Granström, known professionally as Nova Miller until 2022 and later as Fanny Avonne, was born on July 29, 2001, in Stockholm, Sweden. Raised in a musically inclined family, she began playing the violin at age four and started dance at age six. By 2010, she was writing her own songs and formed a girl band, playing bass. She further developed her musical skills, learning guitar and piano, and performing at local events, including a benefit concert in Växjö in 2014 and the annual Barncancer Galan. Her early talent was recognized when she qualified for the final round of the international music festival Helges Talangjakt in Gävle as Fanny Granström.
At the age of twelve in 2014, Miller was discovered by British music executive Lolene Rothenberg at a dance school in Stockholm, leading to her signing with 21:12 Entertainment and Universal Music. Her debut single, “Supernova,” released on June 12, 2015, addressed her personal experiences with bullying, resonating with listeners and reaching Spotify’s viral chart. She continued to release music, including the Christmas single “My Perfect Christmas,” which was ranked among the top Christmas songs by the Swedish newspaper Expressen. In 2016, her retro-pop track “So Good” premiered its music video on MTV. She moved to Los Angeles, California in 2019 to further her career, releasing her debut EP “Yellow” in 2018, followed by “The Passion” in 2020, and “Sting” in 2022. Her music often incorporates influences from the 1960s and 70s, showcasing her range as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
Beyond music, Miller has engaged in various other projects. In 2018, she performed on “Grattis Kronprinsessan,” a live television broadcast celebrating Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden’s birthday. That same year, she starred as Filippa in the Swedish TV show “Svansen i kläm” for eight episodes and provided the Swedish voice for Bliss, the fourth Powerpuff Girl, for Cartoon Network. Her commitment to social causes is evident through her role as an ambassador for Reach for Change, a Swedish non-profit organization dedicated to anti-bullying initiatives, where she uses her platform to encourage young fans and raise awareness about the issue.
