Yuri Lowenthal

Yuri Lowenthal was born on March 5, 1971, in Alliance, Ohio. His early life was characterized by significant relocating, living in Virginia, Tennessee, West Africa, Japan, and New York before establishing himself in Los Angeles. He discovered his enthusiasm for acting during his senior year of high school. Following his graduation from The College of William & Mary in 1993, where he pursued East Asian studies and spent a year abroad in Osaka, Japan, Lowenthal joined the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET). He continued to engage in theatre during his two years in Japan. Subsequently, he moved to New York City, participating in off-off-Broadway theatre and independent films for six years.

Upon moving to Los Angeles, Lowenthal and his wife, Tara Platt, began taking voice-over classes. This led to his first anime dubbing role in “SD Gundam Force” and subsequently numerous voice-over opportunities in animation, commercials, and video games. His career trajectory in voice acting solidified with his role as The Prince in Ubisoft’s “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.” This role marked a significant milestone, leading to widespread recognition and establishing him as a prominent figure in the voice acting industry. He continued to voice The Prince in later installments of the series and various other video game franchises.

Lowenthal has also expanded his work into production. In 2004, he co-founded Monkey Kingdom Productions with Tara Platt. Through this company, he has been involved in writing, producing, and starring in several feature films and web series, including the independent short “Faithful.” His diverse career also includes being a co-author of the book “Voice-Over Voice Actor” and the comedy-noir novella “Tough City,” further highlighting his multifaceted contributions to the entertainment industry.
