Oskar Eriksson is recognized as the first curler in history to win four Olympic medals and eight World Curling Championship gold medals in the senior men’s division. Debuting in Sweden’s Elite Series at thirteen, Eriksson earned a silver medal at the 2008 World Junior Curling Championships. He continued his junior success by securing a gold medal at the 2011 World Junior Curling Championships, defeating Team Switzerland. His early career also saw him inducted into the prestigious Swedish Curling Hall of Fame in 2012.
In a career-defining move, Eriksson joined forces with Niklas Edin in May 2014, playing as third for the newly formed Team Edin. This collaboration ushered in an era of unparalleled success, including an Olympic gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics and a silver medal in 2018. He has notably secured seven World Men’s Curling Championship gold medals (2013, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2024), alongside a World Mixed Doubles Championship gold in 2019, contributing to his record of eight World Championship gold medals. He is also the first curler to achieve seven European Championship gold medals, with victories in 2014, 2017, and 2019, and became the first to win three major gold medals in a single calendar year in 2019.
Eriksson’s recent achievements underscore his continued dominance in the sport. The 2022 season was particularly monumental, seeing him clinch an Olympic gold medal, an Olympic bronze medal in Mixed Doubles, and a World Men’s Curling Championship gold medal, complemented by a Tour Challenge gold. Most recently, he added another World Men’s Curling Championship gold medal in 2024. These accomplishments solidify his legacy as one of curling’s all-time greats, marking him as the first curler in history to win four Olympic medals and a highly sought-after talent.
