Born on May 24, 1991, in Abashiri, Hokkaido, Satsuki Fujisawa developed an early interest in curling. Her junior career began successfully, winning the Pacific Junior Curling Championships twice in 2008 and 2009. This led to her participation in the 2008 and 2009 World Junior Curling Championships. Fujisawa transitioned to senior competition, making her non-junior international debut at the 2011 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships where she placed fourth.
A significant career turning point occurred in 2015 when Fujisawa joined Mari Motohashi’s rink as skip, moving back to her hometown of Kitami. This move catalyzed a period of significant achievement, including Japan’s first gold medal at the 2015 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships. Her team then secured Japan’s first-ever podium finish at a World Championship, earning a silver medal at the 2016 World Women’s Curling Championship. Fujisawa’s leadership culminated in Olympic success, leading her team to a bronze medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and a silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. She has also dominated the domestic scene, winning the Japan Curling Championships multiple times, including four consecutive titles from 2011 to 2014 with her former team and four more with Loco Solare.
Beyond team sports, Fujisawa has also excelled in mixed doubles curling. Partnering with fellow Olympian Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, she won the Japan Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in 2018 and 2019, representing Japan at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships. Her team, Loco Solare, also became the first Asian team to win a Grand Slam event at the 2023 Canadian Open. In 2023, Fujisawa also started bodybuilding and competed in the MOLA cup, showcasing her diverse interests and athletic capabilities.
