Legendary NFL linebacker Otis Wilson has left a lasting impression on the game. Perhaps best remembered for his remarkable career with the Chicago Bears, Wilson was instrumental to their SuperBowl XX victory. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Wilson started his meteoric college career with Syracuse University before transferring to Louisville. There he would become team captain, be named first-team All-American by the Sporting News and rank second all-time in Lousiville football history. Now one of the most revered players of all time, Wilson’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
Wilson’s formidable nine-year NFL career started with the Chicago Bears in 1980. A notorious starting outside linebacker player, Wilson played one of the most dominating defences in football history. Raising the SuperBowl XX trophy was a career-defining moment that has shaped Wilson into the Bears’ most feared pass-rusher and intimidating player in the 46 defence. Within the same breath, Wilson made the Pro Bowl selection and featured in the iconic Super Bowl Shuffle video in 1985 as part of the “Shuffling Crew.” From there, Wilson had a brief but memorable time with the Los Angeles Raiders before hanging up his boots. A celebrated NFL hero, Wilson was inducted into the KY Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
Beyond the field, Wilson is the Chairman of the Otis Wilson Charitable Association. There he leads a team to raise up the youth of his community. Wilson has also published his insightful book If These Walls Could Talk, which gives a unique perspective on his time with the Bears. As Wilson continues to inspire and motivate those around him and beyond, he will be a voice worth listening to for years to come.
