Storm Willis Norton was born on May 16, 1994, in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Whitmer High School in Toledo, where he was recognized for his abilities in football, basketball, and track and field. In 2011, as a senior, he was named First-Team All-Toledo Blade and was awarded the district’s Lineman of the Year. He continued his academic and athletic career at the University of Toledo, where he redshirted his freshman year in 2012. Throughout his college tenure from 2012-2016, Norton played in 46 games, starting 28. He notably earned first-team All-Mid American Conference honors twice in 2015 and 2016. During the 2015 season, he was a key member of an offensive line that allowed only five sacks in 411 passing attempts, ranking as the second-lowest nationally. His contributions helped the Toledo offense lead the MAC in rushing with 207.9 yards per game.
Norton transitioned to professional football after going undrafted in 2017, initially signing with the Detroit Lions. His early NFL career involved several team changes and practice squad assignments with the Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, and Minnesota Vikings between 2017 and 2019. A significant turning point came in 2020 when he was selected as the first overall pick in the second phase of the XFL draft by the Los Angeles Wildcats. His performance in the XFL, though shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic, was highly regarded, with Pro Football Focus naming him the highest-rated offensive lineman. This success led to his return to the NFL, signing with the Los Angeles Chargers in April 2020.
With the Chargers, Norton saw increased playing time, appearing in six games with three starts in 2020. His role expanded in 2021, where he played in all 17 games and started 15 at right tackle. He continued with the Chargers in 2022, playing in 12 games. In 2023, Norton signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints, later moving to the Atlanta Falcons where he saw action in 14 games with three starts. He was re-signed by the Falcons for the 2024 season, playing in all 17 games with one start, and again re-signed for the 2025 season, underscoring his consistent presence and contributions to NFL offensive lines.
